Services

Whether you are seeking medical advice for digestive symptoms or needing a specific procedure, Dr. Acosta brings specialized experience in diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal and liver disorders.

Clinical Consultation

Evaluation of digestive symptoms, including abdominal pain, heart burn, reflux, diarrhea, constipation, gastrointestinal bleeding and persistent vomiting, along with many other gastrointestinal afflictions. Management and treatment of acute and chronic conditions of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, gallbladder, liver and pancreas.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy uses a long, flexible, thin tube with a light and a camera at the end. Images of the inside of a patients gastrointestinal organs (the esophagus, stomach, small intestine and large intestine, or colon) can be seen on a television screen by the doctor. Still photos of the procedure can be recorded. During the endoscopy, biopsies can be obtained to further examine abnormal tissue under a microscope.

Sometimes procedures need to be done to evaluate bleeding or to remove polyps or small, localized tumors. Multiple instruments can be used through the endoscope to stop bleeding or to facilitate removal of lesions.

All endoscopic procedures are done in an outpatient basis at the Endoscopy Centers at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in Westover Hills, Saint Lukes Baptist Hospital, or at the Methodist Ambulatory Surgical Center in the Medical Center.
