Luis José Acosta, M.D.

Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine

Dr. Acosta is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He is bilingual in Spanish and English. Dr. Acosta has broad interests within the field of Gastroenterology and Liver Disease. He was born in Texas and raised in Mexico City. He attended Rice University, where he graduated with a degree in Biology. Dr. Acosta earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he fell in love with the city and its people, and has since considered it his hometown. He furthered his training with an internal medicine residency at the University of New Mexico, and returned to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to complete his Gastroenterology fellowship. He proudly opened Mission Gastroenterology in January 2010 to serve the needs of the growing population of San Antonio and surrounding cities.

Dr. Acostas goal is to deliver personable, attentive medical care, while remaining up-to-date with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in Gastroenterology and Liver Disease. Dr. Acosta believes the most important part of medical care is adequate communication and understanding between the physician, the patient, and the patients family.

In his spare time, Dr. Acosta enjoys attending sporting events, traveling, scuba diving, and spending time with his family, friends, and two dogs. His interests include learning new languages and keeping up with world events, culture, and music. Dr Acosta and his wife, Desiree, are looking forward to raising their growing family in San Antonio.
